WHO WE ARE
'Equipping a Community of People to Demonstrate Loving Proof of a Loving God'
EQUIP I ENCOURAGE I EMPOWER I ENGAGE

Our Mission
Ok, so Jesus set the mission when he instructed his followers to go in to all the world to make disciples, so let’s talk about the mission our styles.
Northgate exists to equip a community of people to demonstrate living proof of a loving God.
Our Story
Northgate started in the hearts of Tony and Heidi Versey in the early 2000s and officially opened up in the bar at the Silverdale Rugby Club in 2005.
We as a people are sharing in a very old tradition of people gathering together and wondering what it looks like to centre their lives around Jesus. He has shaped our world, our morals and our ethics more than any other person in human history. We think that Jesus is still very relevant to the here and now, and offers great wisdom for our world today.
Jesus invites us to follow him and how he lived. We know that this journey is messy, as we are all works in progress, a little munted you might say, but it is well worth it. Our goal as a church is ultimately to help people on this journey as they become alive to who God has made them to be.
If this sounds like something you’d want to know more about then we’d love to hear from you, either via one of our points of connection or come along this Sunday.
What We Do
It is not just what we believe, but how we live it out that makes us who we are. Our name North Gate speaks of gateway - an entry into a journey to know God, find freedom, then discover your purpose to make a positive difference. Every one of those steps is essential in living life to the full as Jesus intends us to do.
Know God
To love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind is both the first and the greatest of the commands profound in its grasp yet extraordinary in its simplicity. Not rules, regulations, nor programs - simply to love God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We gather every week in a variety of services that attract veterans in the faith, through to those who are new to the whole experience. Our desire is that you might relationally know God by experiencing him in an authentic, life changing way.
Keep your eyes open
for God, watch for his works; be alert for signs of his presence.
Psalm 105 The Message version
Find Freedom
The second command from Jesus ‘to love your neighbour as yourself,’ follows in quick succession from the first. We believe life change happens in the context of relationships and that God created you for community. Small groups, dinner parties, interest groups all exist for the important purpose of bringing people together to experience freedom and belonging.
Discover Purpose
We regularly run our ‘Discover Track’ as an opportunity to help in the discovery and development of your God designed purpose. through a series of teachings which help connect us with church, and ultimately discover our spiritual gifts and how we can use our purpose to make a difference.
Make A Difference
We believe people’s lives will never make sense until they find, develop, and fulfill their purpose. We invite you to make a difference through serving on a team of your choice based on your unique gifts and abilities. We will help you along the way to find your place of belonging.

GOVERNANCE : SENIOR PASTOR & MINISTRY LEADERS
If the people are freed up to get on with ministry, what happens about leadership and governance?
By giving authority to the ministry leaders, the pastor can focus on leadership issues and a Board or Elders group can govern by making policies, upholding the vision and values already agreed to by the church and monitor performance. The Board defines the responsibilities of the pastor and holds him/her accountable. They do not get involved in the detail of management.
